John Lennon, one of the founding members of the Beatles, was the visionary behind the band — the creative force that continued to push the group into new and uncharted artistic territory. That imagination fueled his success as a solo artist as well. Always on the forefront of contemporary culture, his work with Yoko Ono broke boundaries and challenged audiences’ conventional notions of art and music. He and Yoko were also very much on the forefront of a peaceful, non-violent form of political protest, which made his tragic assassination outside his Central Park apartment all the more ironic.
